[22 Dec 2009|08:58pm] newfriends [dupersessions] [ music | Corinne Bailey Rae - I'd Do It All Again | Powered by Last.fm ] hi. i'm allison and i'll be 19 in a month although i'm not excited because it just means i'm getting older yet i still can't (legally) drink. what's the fun in that? i'm a college student majoring in journalism and although it is my dream i am currently playing with the idea of becoming an english major, going to grad school for library science, and becoming a librarian. i'm currently at a point in my life where i'm trying to figure out who it is i want to be, and how exactly to go about doing that. i've spent most of my life living my my own fantasy world, and now that i'm starting to live in the real world i'm not sure it's something i like. my interests include reading, writing, my dog, and musical theatre. i've had someone describe me as a "homebody" and i guess that's true even if i don't want it to be. i'm a huge harry potter fan (it's been 10 years now, oh wow) and am completely unapologetic about it--it's a pretty sane fandom compared to some others. i'm into a lot of different music although my faves are coldplay, corinne bailey rae, sade, sondre lerche, kanye west, drake, M.I.A., john mayer, kid cudi, jason mraz, and arctic monkeys older stuff (basically, anything before the new album because i hate it.) the only things i watch on tv are the soup, csi, svu, criminal minds, and wendy williams. i tend to be a bit of a cynic about things and sarcasm is a way of life for me. if you want to add me, do it! i'm not at all picky about who i'll add as long as you think we have some stuff in common :). howevr, my journal is very personal and honest and something i hate is feeling like i have to censor myself. so if you're judgmental or don't want to read my opinions on things like sex, masturbation, or when i just make an entry about how woe is me, don't add me. thanks, hope to make some new friends! comment at my journal or just add me, doesn't matter to me :) -a.

A girl...obviously and residing in Derbyshire when at home and Manchester when I am at uni. I'm at Manchester Met uni in my fourth year training to be a primary school teacher. It's hard work but will be worth it in the end. I hope! I have a lovely boyfriend called Tom who I have been with for 14 months. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me and no doubt, I will post entries either about my undying love for him or about times when he is just pissing me off. Haha. I have just had a friend clear out and gotten rid of people who didn't update their journals or had taken no interest in chatting with me in the duration we had been added as friends. However, this may have also been down to me lacking in comments what with being busy on placement and what not. HOWEVER. This is to change. It's a new year and a new start so I am looking to add people who are regular updaters and comment once in a while. I don't expect comments on EVERY SINGLE POST but comments now and again would be lovely and I will try to do the same. I'll try to keep this short as I hate it when I have to read large blocks of text [check out me splitting it into mini paragraphs to try and keep your attentions.... :P SNEAKY SNEAKY.] At the moment, I am obsessed with Christmas, Horlicks, Taylor Lautner, all things Twilight basically, mince pies, tea, our new coal fire, Supernatural, Jensen Ackles' face, Henry Cavill, Livejournal, dissertation research [IDEK...], Gossip Girl, Ed Westwick in general etc etc. Just let me know if you are adding me. :) post comment

I'm 21, live in Central California, and have a boyfriend of 2.5 years. I spend a lot of time thinking about what I would do if there was a zombie invasion. I really dig indie music, adventures, traveling, and generally being carefree. I can talk your ear off, but I can really listen too. I'm going to school, though I'm taking a year off to work. I want to be an English teacher (preferably at a community college). I'm sort of crass yet mellow, if that makes any sense. I can laugh about almost anything, even something tragic or embarrassing for myself. I'm sort of child-like in a way and I am VERY forgetful. My favorite book of all time is Peter Pan and my favorite movie is Harold and Maude. I love Ray Bradbury (I met him last year!) and dystopian fiction in general. I have feminist leanings, I'm a general "fag-hag" and I am proud to come from a working-class family. I like white daisies and my favorite smell is burning wood. I want more Internet friends and LJ is perfect for that. I prefer to talk to young women around my age, as I don't have many female friends and I feel that I am missing out. I'm 19 (nearly 20), and female. I live in derbyshire. I work part time as a waitress and am currently looking at going to university next october :).  My interests include music, reading, films, and spening time with friends and family. The music i listen to varies usually depending on how i am feeling and as well as listening to music i also enjoy singing along and can play the saxophone. I am mostly into fantasy or comedy films as well as musicals of course lol. Some of my favourite films are: Harry potter and Twilight. I am a friendly and caring person and although i am not 100% confident my confidence is growing on a daily basis. I love meeting new people and talking about psychology, philosophy, fate and ghosts etc. I always find it interesting to hear what people think about those subjects :). I work in a Pet shop, although not the best place ever to work its actually sometimes fun. I love animals, but sadly now, only own one cat. I used to have so many pets but my parents are a lil sour when it comes to replacing so to speak. My cat though, is my baby :D Hes 4 years old and just a plain black cat who is annoying, naughty and nasty hehe. But I love him. My intersets, other than animals is, cinema. I love going to watch the latest movies. Twilight and New Moon :D Although amazing, the books are way better. Yes I like to read. I enjoy reading a good book now and again. I enjoy the odd random drives in my car, its nice sometimes to just be on your own and able to think about things. I do like seeing my friends, when they've got the time for me.  When it comes to music, i'll listen to pretty much anything, from Michael Buble, to Paramore and Taylor Swift. But I'm currently working there to save up some money so I can travel through Asia and Australia in a few years. That's why I'm hoping I'll win some money on my Christmas calender, haha. I'm addicted to music. I'm really bad at singing and dancing but I do it anyways. I'm not the only one enjoying it, it seems. A bunch of people always seem to laugh at me when dancing. Children's birthday party venues [14 Dec 2009|09:28pm] dfwtx [meijhen] Hi all, I'm trying to think/plan ahead here. My daughter's 4th birthday is in February, and we're going to throw her a party (her first non-family party!). No way we can have it at our house - even if only half the kids invited showed up, they wouldn't fit in our house with their parents. We've been looking at places like Boomerang's or Pump It Up, or one of the gymnastics places in Frisco/Plano. But the problem I'm running into is she wants to actually do a theme (dragons), and most of these places don't allow you to bring your own food or decorations or games. So....anyone have any ideas? Are there places where you can just rent a small space, and do whatever in it? I'm not sure that would be at all cost effective, but it might be worth looking at. And we considered a park, but mid-February is not exactly the best time to be planning outdoor activities, unfortunately. Thanks! 5 comments|post comment

[14 Dec 2009|12:33pm] newfriends [schmancypants] [ music | fall down, never get back up again - la dispute ] hi, i'm macey. i'm an adrenaline whore. i'm actually interested in physics, and understand it (what i've learned so far) for the most part. my apathy towards most of life over powers any sensitivity that may have once existed. according to other people, i might be witty/funny/ridiculous/silly/moody. i typically frown on confrontations. mostly because i hate public speaking, and that counts. however, sometimes everything builds up to the point of me saying really stupid shit when i should just shut my mouth and deal with things. i guess you could say i have trust issues, but honestly, it's not an issue unless i have a problem with it. in theory, i'm a communist. however, i accept the reality that is human nature (error) and realize that communism cannot exist in its purest form. in front of most people, i'm a fairly upbeat person. i act like a child, even in public (spinning in circles is fun, as is wearing silly hats). i am willing to be your friend, but you have to talk to me first. 2 comments|post comment
